2 New Updates
- I’ve added a Learner’s Path page with some suggested starting materials for new members and newer players. You’ll see a nice big red button on the Courses Page, and you can also see the new page here
- A new mini course drops tomorrow morning for 5 Tune To Send Musicians Screaming From A Session, or something silly along those lines! It’s just a bit of fun, and they’re actually really nice tunes to play.

Your Roots Are Showing / Conference Update
I’ve spent the week at Your Roots Are Showing music industry conference in Killarney. From talking on several panels, to showcasing with Gadan, to late night hotel jams, it’s been a fantastic week so far. I hosted a panel on teaching online (I know a little about this!), participated on a very interesting panel discussion about various revenue streams for musicians which ranged broadly from merchandising to royalties and strayed into the world of AI, and I even suggested to some loud gasps, that artists should consider becoming stock investors in some of the mega corporations that we spend so much time creating content for and trying to hack and leverage their reach (Spotify/Meta). That was a fun 90 mins
I’ve gotten to play some incredible music. Yesterday I had a workshop with Ron Block, the banjo player with Alison Krauss and Union Station for 3 decades. Then we jammed last night with some young bluegrass players from Washington and a 5 string banjo player from Spain, Lluis Gomez.
It’s been fascinating, engaging, exhausting and everything in between.
Working on a new YouTube video about lilting and singing!
As a follow on to my video on agogic rhythm I’m revisiting the idea of lilting or singing along with yourself as you play. I think this is actually a transformative practice…… more soon.
